DOUGLAS, Wyo. (AP) — Some 200 people attended a meeting in Douglas to hear from Chesapeake Energy officials about energy development in Converse County.

Company officials told the people on Tuesday night that the Niobrara Shale formation in the county will continue to be a priority target for Chesapeake.

The company has more than 50 horizontal wells in the county. Company officials told people at the meeting about its future plans and how its development is regulated.

The Associated Press reports that some residents voiced concern about gas flaring, hydraulic fracturing and possible consequences of industrial development related to the drilling while others were supportive of the drilling.
