Authorities are still investigating a fire that destroyed a trailer home near Interstate 25 and North Poplar Street on Monday, according to a news release from Casper Fire-EMS on Tuesday.

Firefighters responded to the call at 2:02 p.m., and when they arrived found the trailer home in the 600 block of Westshore Road engulfed in flames.

They initially attacked the fire from the outside and then entered the structure to put it out.
Several people were home when the fire started. No injuries were reported, but two of their three pets died in the fire.

Those reporting the fire said it started on the front porch. When the occupants smelled smoke they opened the front door and encountered a wall of flames.

They were not able to shut the front door, which allowed the fire to spread throughout the structure and destroyed their belongings.

The occupants were able to escape through the back door.

The cause of the fire has not been determined and is still under investigation.
