Very Cold, Snow Tapering Off

New snow across much of the Cowboy state will be small through Friday night and early Saturday.  However, widespread slick and icy travel conditions and blowing snow should continue to be expected.  Arctic air will also remain across the region through the weekend so be careful if traveling or having to spend time outside

A warm air mass will push afternoon temperatures to 10 and 15 degrees above normal today and tomorrow.  Expect highs to rise into the 40's and 50's, allowing for very pleasant conditions.  Periods of sunshine are expected, and winds will increase statewide

Current Snowpack OK, But Will It Last

Coming into 2013 regional snow pack is about normal and above average in western Wyoming. Jim Fahey, hydrologist with the National Weather Service in Riverton, says the western mountains are already over 100 percent of average.
