A Casper woman denies allegations that she tried to poison her stepmother with over-the-counter eye medication.

18-year-old Alexis Jennings pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault on Tuesday.

According to court documents, Jennings told investigators that she was trying to kill her stepmother by lacing her coffee and tea with Visine.

Jennings told investigators that she had been sporadically adding Visine to her stepmother’s drinks since July after she made negative comments about Jennings’ boyfriend, generally varying doses from as little as one-sixth of a bottle to as much as a quarter of a bottle.

Jennings’ stepmother was hospitalized at Wyoming Medical Center on Nov. 16th for decreased body temperature, stomach problems, swings in blood pressure, blurred vision, tremors and bleeding.

Jennings’ stepmother was hospitalized at West Park Hospital in Cody for similar symptoms on Oct. 12. Jennings told investigators that her stepmother ingested an estimated five bottles of Visine that day.

Jennings is currently being held at the Natrona County Detention Center on $50,000 bond.
