Casper Fire EMS crews are shifting their focus on recovering the body of a woman who fell into the North Platte River this past weekend.

According to Casper Police, at around 5am on Saturday January 19th, neighbors in the 1200 block of North Center Street, heard a woman calling for help.

When police and rescue crews arrived, they saw a woman clinging to some ice on the river.

They tried to throw her a rope, but it was not long enough and she appeared too exhausted to grab it.

She then went under the ice a short time later.

Police say they do not know why the woman was out on the ice.

She is described as white, in her mid-30's with dirty blonde shoulder length hair, weighing about 150 pounds, and was wearing a dark leather jacket.

Anyone with any information about the identity of the woman, are asked to contact the Casper Police Department.
