Casper police officers on Sunday arrested a woman for allegedly cutting her girlfriend's forearm with a folding knife during an argument.

Lois Rose Dreiling, 20, was booked into jail on recommended charges of domestic battery and aggravated assault. She will likely make her initial appearance in Natrona County Circuit Court at 2 p.m. Monday.

Court documents say police were called to an address on St. Mary Street shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday for a reported suicide attempt. The reporting party told dispatch that her roommate had cut her forearm with a box cutter.

Officers arrived on scene and contacted the reported victim, who was identified as Dreiling's girlfriend. The person who had called police was identified as Erin Appel, who was the victim's roommate and a close friend of Dreiling.

The victim denied cutting herself or being suicidal. On her right forearm, police noted a three-centimeter cut , extending into the muscle tissue. Two small, superficial cuts surrounded the largest cut.

The victim told police she had cut her arm on a nail while fixing a fence. She repeatedly told officers that she was not suicidal.

Dispatch advised officers that Appel -- who had called police -- was down the street, waiting for Dreiling. Police told Appel and Dreiling to return to the victim's residence.

Dreiling told officers that she and the victim had been arguing over Dreiling's close relationship with Appel. Dreiling said the victim -- her girlfriend -- believed Dreiling and Appel were spending "too much time" together and "becoming too close."

Dreiling told police that during an argument in Dreiling's Jeep, which was parked in the driveway of the home, her girlfriend pulled out a blue folding knife and held it to her own throat, threatening suicide. Afterward, Dreiling, claimed, her girlfriend started cutting herself on her left forearm.

However, police noted, the victim only had cuts on her right forearm.

A blue folding knife was found in a drawer in the kitchen. The tip of the knife had dried blood on it, but there was no other indication of blood anywhere else on the knife.

The victim, maintaining that she was not suicidal, told police that during the argument in Dreiling's Jeep, Dreiling had put both hands on the victim's neck and pushed her. Police noted small, red scratch marks on both sides of the victim's neck.

The victim said she and Dreiling continued arguing, and Dreiling "swung" at the victim. The victim put up her right forearm in an effort to block the swing, but as she did so, she felt a sharp stabbing in her forearm.

The victim then saw the Dreiling had the blue folding knife in her right hand. The victim yelled at Dreiling, asking her what she was doing, and got out of the Jeep.

Dreiling ran over to the victim and put pressure on the wound, the victim told investigators. Dreiling allegedly said, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to, I'm so sorry."

The victim went back into her apartment. Dreiling and Appel allegedly took off, but Appel called police and reported that the victim was suicidal.

Inside the Jeep, police found several spots of dried, smeared blood on the center console. A receipt in the rear of the vehicle had a dried blood droplet on it, and was collected as evidence.

Dreiling was arrested on several warrants. As she was arrested, Dreiling allegedly said, "Okay, I f------ cut her, I'm sick of this s---, I f------ cut her, can you just take me to jail now," according to the affidavit.

Dreiling then told police, "I had the knife and sliced her arm."

The victim said, "We had a miss with the knife, and I don't know what happened, or who had the knife, and whatever happened was an accident. The victim said she didn't believe the wound had been intentional, and said, "I don't want anyone to get in trouble."

Dreiling was taken to jail. The victim refused to complete domestic violence paperwork and refused medical treatment.
