A Casper man is dead after a crash on Interstate 25 north of Wheatland late Thursday night.

Travis Waltemath, 46, died at about 11:10 p.m. Thursday roughly 10 miles north of Wheatland.

Waltemath was driving a commercial truck, pulling two trailers, southbound on I-25 in strong winds. The Wyoming Highway Patrol says in a news release that Waltemath lost control of the truck as the truck and both trailers tripped and rolled onto the driver's side.

Waltemath was not wearing his seatbelt. He was partially thrown from the cab and died at the scene.

Troopers are investigating lack of seat belt use and strong wind speeds as contributing factors in the crash.

Waltemath was the 10th person killed on Wyoming highways in 2017. The same time period in 2016 saw six highway deaths statewide.
