Casper Man Arrested for Possession of Meth and Heroin, Child Endangerment

Police officers who noticed a car with expired registration and a cracked windshield ended up arresting the driver on charges of drug possession and three counts of child endangerment, as well as several traffic offenses.

Brandon Scott Campbell, 35, was booked into jail on one count each of meth, marijuana and heroin possession, three counts of endangering a child with methamphetamine, improper registration, driving under suspension, driving without an ignition interlock device and no insurance.

Charging papers say officers were parked on the southeast corner of McKinley and H Street at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, when they noticed a silver 4-door 2000 Hyundai with expired plates and a cracked windshield. They pulled the vehicle over at Elma and F Street.

The registration came back as belonging to a blue 1992 Ford, not the silver Hyundai.

Campbell, the driver, was accompanied by three passengers ranging from eight to 15 years of age.

Campbell was reportedly unable to provide any proof of insurance, and dispatch confirmed Campbell's Wyoming driver's license had been revoked for driving under the influence.

Dispatch also told officers that Campbell was required to have an ignition interlock device from October 2016 through October 2101. Campbell had previously been charged with driving under suspension and no insurance earlier in 2017.

Police arrested Campbell at 3:47 p.m. A tow truck was requested for the Hyundai, and arrangements were made for someone to pick up the children.

As an officer completed a vehicle inventory, he allegedly found a small silver Camel Snus can with a plastic baggie partially sticking out of it. The can was found between the front seats of the Hyundai, according to court documents.

Inside the tin can were small baggies containing marijuana, meth and heroin. Police also allegedly found a small black case containing a silver digital scale.

When asked about what officers had allegedly found, Campbell reportedly said he was driving his friend's vehicle and had no knowledge of any contraband.

Campbell was booked into jail without incident. He will likely make his initial appearance in Natrona County Circuit Court at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
