The Casper community is rallying behind Officer Jacob Carlson and his family after the tragic shooting that happened on Sunday, May 6th.

Officer Carlson received several transfusions across the multiple surgeries as the doctors and staff at Wyoming Medical Center worked to save his life.  These transfusions required quite a bit of blood, some of which was rushed to Casper via emergency air and ground transports.

After news of the shooting reached the people of Casper, dozens of people showed up and waited in line on Monday to donate blood and blood products at area donation centers. But the need for more blood and blood products still exists to help restock the depleted blood inventory in Wyoming. With an always busy Memorial Day Weekend ahead, you are invited to make a donation to help refill the state's blood supply.

United Blood services will be on hand at the fundraising event at the Yellowstone Garage this Saturday, in addition to taking donations at their Casper location, 2801 East 2nd Street.  People wishing to donate are encouraged to call 307.237.2328 and schedule a time to make a donation. UBS has extended their hours as well as brought in additional phlebotomist from around the region to help accommodate anyone who would like to make a donation.

What: Help Our Hero - accepting blood and monetary donations

Where: Yellowstone Garage - 355 W Yellowstone Hwy in Casper

When: Saturday, May 12th, 2018 - 11am to 4pm

Cash donations are still being accepted as well.  A Go Fund Me account has been established in the family's name to help support the Carlson family and has already surpassed $50k dollars in hopes of reaching a goal of $75k.
