Casper Fire Chief Mark Young has announced his retirement from the City of Casper after 34 years of service.Chief Young has accepted the position of Assistant State Fire Marshal for the Wyoming State Fire Marshal’s office.
Chief Young started his career with the Casper Fire-EMS Department as a firefighter in 1979. He was promoted to Engineer in 1985, Captain in 1989, Division Chief of Personnel/Training for Fire/Police in 1992 and appointed to Fire Chief in 1999. His road to leadership was directly related to his hard work, dedication and desire to serve the citizens of the City of Casper and his fellow firefighters.

Chief Young has been an integral part in the growth of City of Casper Fire-EMS Department. The scope of services expanded from a fire department to a Fire-EMS department. Chief Young will leave after having helped further broaden the scope of services provided to the citizens by implementing the Community Risk Reduction Division.

Chief Young’s last day in the office will be June 28, 2013. He begins his employment with the State of Wyoming on July 15th.
