The Casper College Adult Learning Center at Casper College will open for the fall 2014 semester on Tuesday, Sept. 2. Fall hours for the center will be on Monday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The center is closed on Friday and weekends.

Mandatory new student orientation for those wanting to earn their high school equivalency certificate, the HiSET, will be held the first Tuesday of every month at three times: 9 a.m. and 1 and 6 p.m. The first orientation will be held on September 2 with other orientations scheduled for October 7, November 4, and December 2.

Chelsea DePaolo-Lara, new center director said,

“Participants should notify the Adult Learning Center if they have any personal schedule conflicts with these dates, makeup orientations may be offered in special circumstances,”

The Adult Learning Center helps prepare students for the HiSET, which is equivalent to the GED. In addition, the center provides free assessment and instruction to out-of-school adult students, 16 years old and older, who need to improve their basic reading, writing, science, social studies, and math skills in order to reach their educational and employment goals.

The Adult Learning Center at Casper College is located in the Werner Technical Center on the Casper College campus, and all programs offered at the center are free of charge.
