The Hogadon Ski Area, located on Casper Mountain, south of the Oil City, will soon have a facility for year round use.

On Monday June 6th, Casper City Council members and city staff helped break ground on the new ski lodge, which will be a two level building when it's complete.

The new 16,000 foot plus building will not only be useful for skiers, but for those in the area for summer-time activities such as hiking, biking and even weddings.

Chris Smith is the Superintendent of the Hogadon Ski Area.

He says the area has been changing and it needs a facility to accommodate the changes.

"We've opened up the mountain accessible to people that want to hike, want to bike. We've had people ski and ski back up as late as May 27th this year. we're turning the ski area back into a park."

Smith says the new ski lodge should be ready by Winter of 2017.
