The city of Casper may be looking to the Wyoming Business Council to help fund certain North Platte River restoration and construction projects.

Officials say the city is trying to attain a $500,000 community enhancement grant that the city would use to chip away at the estimated $12.8 million Platte River Revival river restoration effort.

City officials say the funds from the 50 percent matching grant would be put toward projects that, ultimately, would improve water quality, aquatic and terrestrial habitat, recreational opportunities and riverbank appearance along the river.

City officials also say an improved North Platte in Casper would make the city more attractive to incoming businesses.

Casper City Council is slated to vote on whether it wants to sign off on the grant application at its regular meeting on Tuesday.
