Casper City Council has decided to not accept spring community promotions requests.

City officials on Tuesday told councilors that only $5,000 remains in council's $150,000 FY14 Council Goals account, which is used to fund the requests.

Casper mayor Paul Meyer says the city will, however, accept informal in-kind requests for facility use.

“That’s part of the legacy that we try to build in this city of events and athletic events,” Meyer said. “The lack of funding in that promotions account is kind of somewhat reflective of our dip in sales tax."

In September, council chose to fund 19 events.
