Accused Casper bank robber Brandon Bayne made his initial appearance in a Cheyenne federal courtroom Wednesday. Bayne is charged with one count of bank robbery in connection with the July 11th robbery at the Bank of the West branch at Wyoming Boulevard and Gannett Street in Casper.

Bayne entered a not-guilty plea to the federal charge. He was ordered held without bond, after U.S. Attorney Eric Heimann agued Bayne posed a flight risk, and was a “danger to society.”

Heimann said prosecutors have a strong case, claiming Bayne confessed to the crime, and money from the robbery was found in his car.

The judge set a trial date for September 17th. If convicted, Bayne faces up to 20 years in a federal prison, and fines of up to $250,000.
