Passenger numbers at the Casper-Natrona County International Airport were up roughly 10 percent during the month of June, airport officials say.

“That’s almost 10,000 passengers total in this June compared with June of 2013,” Airport manager Glenn Januska said. “We’re really happy to see that.”

Januska said overall passenger numbers during the first four months of the year were down. He cited Allegiant Air's decision last year to end its seasonal service from Casper to the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.

“We took out the Allegiant/Mesa numbers and said, ‘OK, if we weren’t comparing ourselves to a period of time that had Mesa, what’s happening with United and Delta?’ Every month since the beginning of the year, United and Delta were up,” Januska said.

Allegiant ended its service from Casper to Mesa, Ariz., last May.
