CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Gov. Matt Mead and his family are traveling to New York ahead of this weekend's New York City Marathon.

First Lady Carol Mead is running in the Marathon this Sunday. She announced last month that she's running as a member of a charity team dedicated to reducing underage drinking and impaired driving.

Organizers say the course of the 26.2-mile race will be the same as in past years because there was little damage along the route from Superstorm Sandy this week.

Renny MacKay is spokesman for Gov. Mead. MacKay says the governor and the couple's two children will be in New York to watch the race.
