A Casper woman is accused of leaving her children in a vehicle.

Twenty-three year old Carina Orozco has pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor charges of abondoning or endangering children.

Casper Police Officers say just before noon on Thursday, August 20th, they received a call that 2 children had been left alone in a vehicle on South Washington Street, for at least 20 minutes.

The children were in the back seat asleep, the vehicle was not turned on, and three of the four windows were half way down.

The outside temperature at the time was 75 degrees, and the vehicle was parked in a way so that direct sunlight was coming in at every angle.

Nearby nurses helped get the children out and one of them was covered in sweat and her face was beet red.

Orozco eventually returned and said she was inside a building for a job interview and a friend was supposed to sit the children, but then disappeared.

Police learned that there was a warrant for Orozco's arrest for unpaid fines.

She is being held on $1,000 bond awaiting trial, and could face up to one year in jail on each charge if convicted.

Another friend of Orozco was contacted to take temporary custody of the children.
