The finishing touches are being made on a log cabin built cooperatively by local high school and college students.

It winds up a first-year effort between the district's Transitions program and Casper College. The Transitions Program works with high school students at risk of dropping out, while the college works to offer real world experience.

"So we have two different stages going so students can be involved from beginning to end. As we're finishing one up another one is starting and we rotate right into it."

Instructor Rob Hill say the finished cabin gets auctioned off this spring.

The college marketing department is charged with organizing the auction that hopefully will cover costs and help fund next years cabin.

Hill says as an additional project the students are building a log warming hut for the Nordic Ski Trails Center on Casper Mountain.
