CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) ā€” The High Desert District of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management in Wyoming plans to conduct several prescribed fires this spring.

The timing of the fires will depend on fuel moisture and cooperative weather. The fires are intended to improve wildlife habitat and reduce hazardous fuels.

Fires are planned for the following locations:

  • Iron Mountain: Nearly 800 acres public and private land about 30 miles northwest of Cheyenne.
  • Morgan Creek: About 350 acres south of Miracle Mile, roughly 30 miles northeast of Rawlins.
  • Red Wash Wetlands: About 370 acres 20 miles north of Baggs.
  • Prospect Mountain: Roughly 350 acres along the edge of the Medicine Bow National Forest, southeast of Riverside.
