Brigette Gonzalez Pleads Not Guilty To Aggravated Assault

A Casper woman accused of assaulting another woman has entered her plea in court.

Twenty-two year old Brigette Gonzalez has pleaded not guilty to one charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and one charge of aggravated assault with intent to cause bodily injury.

Investigators with the Casper Police Department say in middle February, officers were contacted by Gonzalez, who was already at the Natrona County Detention Center on an unrelated incident.

She said she was present when 35-year old William Coronado III attacked the victim at a hotel.

Gonzalez added the she felt she couldn’t do anything, because what Coronado wants, he gets and “what he wants done has to be done.”

Gonzalez told police this because she felt bad over what had happened, did not plan the incident and wanted officers to know the truth.

Officers had responded to the hotel on the night in question for a suicide call, and they took the victim to the hospital to be treated for a number of injuries.

Investigators say the victim later told them, that Coronado punched her and cut her with a pocket knife, when she tried to leave, and that Gonzalez held the victim down in the process.

Among the injuries that the victim sustained included, three broken bones on the left side of her face.

Gonzalez is being held on $50,000 bond awaiting trial, and could face up to 10 years in prison on each charge if convicted.Coronado has also pleaded not guilty to the same charges connected to this case, and is awaiting trial.
