A Casper man will avoid jail time after admitting that he took money from the register at his place of employment.

Brandon Partin was given a six month suspended jail sentence, with six months of probation, after he pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor charge of petty theft.

Investigators with the Casper Police Department say on Friday, April 8th, they were contacted by the Asset Protection Manager at K-Mart, who told them that they had an employee suspected of stealing.

Upon reviewing security store video, it was determined that from January through last week, there were a number of times that Partin opened the cash drawer for no reason, removed some cash, and set it aside.

When interviewed, Partin admitted to taking about $1,200, and provided a written statement that he wrecked his car in February, was a full time college student, and his hours at the store were not enough to sustain him.

He has also been ordered to pay restitution.
