A Natrona County Sheriff's Deputy working at the Natrona County Detention Center, is accused of releasing confidential information, while an investigation was underway.

Brandon Littau has pleaded not guilty to one misdemeanor count of names not to be released or restrictions on disclosures or publication of information.

Investigators with the Casper Police Department say in late June, the Natrona County Sheriff's Office was investigating a possible sexual assault case.

During the investigation, the suspect told investigators that he knew an investigation was going on, because he had been informed earlier by Littau's father, who learned about it through Littau.

When a call is placed though the Public Safety Communication Center, the information regarding the call is entered into a system called Computer Aided Dispatch, which can be accessed by all law enforcement officers, including Deputies at the Detention Center.

Because Littau was employed by the Sheriff's Office, the Casper Police Department handled the investigation.

When interviewed, Littau said he had reviewed the dispatch system on the day the sexual assault call came in, and that he recognized the names of both the suspect and the victim.

Littau stated he was aware the information was confidential, but believed once the call left the computer screen, the case was over.

He is awaiting trial and could face up to 90 days in jail if convicted.

Authorities say the information leak, did not jeopardize the sexual assault investigation.
