Several agencies are fighting a wildfire on Palmer Canyon Road, which is 16 miles southwest of Wheatland, according to a news release from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management on Sunday.

The BLM's High Desert District Rawlins Office, and crews from Platte and Albany counties are on the scene of the fire, which has burned about 231 acres.

The BLM urges the public to use caution or avoid the area because fire behavior can change, and fire spread is unpredictable if high winds develop.

Lightning caused the fire, which is burning in grass and timber

Firefighting resources include two helicopters, a state firefighting crew and an interagency hot shot crew, four engines and other equipment.
