As State Basketball kicks off, the NC girls continue to remain undefeated, as they picked off Cheyenne East with relative ease, beating them 64-36. Despite the score, it was a hard fought win, and the Cheyenne East girls have nothing to be ashamed of. The Fillies, however, have everything to be proud of. They worked hard, they played hard, and they won…hard.
I'm reminded of how proud I am of my town, and the people that live in it, when I witness events like Bowl For Jason's Friends. People from all over Casper offer their time, money, and mad bowling skills to the Jason's Friends Foundation, an organization created to help families financially, and emotionally, when they have a sick child.
Another day, another successful event at the Casper Events Center. This time, it was the 2012 Wyoming State Wrestling Championship. Teams from all across Wyoming ventured into Casper to fight like the gladiators that they are while wearing extremely tight-fitting spandex. Evidently, people love to watch this stuff, which is why the Events Center was nearly packed to the rafters with fans and fellow students, all showing their support for their hometown team!
If there is one way to combat the cold that comes with Winter winds, it's by downing over 40 different kinds of chili at the 2012 API Chili Cookoff. Vendors came, saw, and attempted to conquer each other's chili recipe and we the public were able to sample the best chili from all over. The contest was between the vendors, but we were the real winners. Check out these pictures from the event!
With the Peach Basket on the horizon, what better way to watch NC and KW play each other in a basketball game then to...watch NC and KW play each other in a basketball game?? Confusing, we know, But! That's just what happened on Thursday night as the KW boys and Girls played the NC boys and girls in what was a precursor to the Peach Basket, and we were there to capture you!
The Casper Soccer Club put on it's 1st Annual Rocky Mountain Indoor Soccer Cup Tournament and, as the title of this article suggests, it was a roaring success. Dozens of kids and teenagers participated in the tournament, competing for bragging rights and, yes, 'The Cup.' The tournament was fun for participants and for spectators, as these photos show.
It’s official – Stuff The Van #14 is a wrap, and was one of the best years we’ve had in the event’s history. We just got word from our partners at Wyoming Food Bank Of The Rockies, that after everything was sorted, counted, and distributed at their warehouse – just over 3,500 Casper children will be served this Christmas, thanks to your generosity.
