Our first excursion during our stay at the Beaches Boscobel Luxury Included Resort and Golf Club was a catamaran cruise on the beautiful and exciting oceans after a morning full of "liquid sunshine."
The highlight of the cruise was lying on the "trampoline" on the front, a series of criss-crossed ribbons that form a webbing with nothing but ocean several feet beneath, and being splashed as the catamaran crested the waves. We also stopped for a while to swim in the ocean, which was surprisingly warm, and even found a starfish and several sea urchins by diving down to the bottom. On the short ride back to the resort, the crew taught us some Jamaican dancing, and the DJ mixed in a few fun American songs for us to enjoy.
We are here at the beautiful Beaches Boscobel Resort and Golf Club.
We arrived last night, and my top three impressions from the resort, and Jamaica in general, can be read after the jump.
Whether you've already splurged on mom or are panicking at the last minute to find an easy way to show your appreciation for all she does, have no fear. The Internet is here to save the day with online Mother's Day cards. Some showcase your sense of humor, some get all mushy gushy and heartfelt, but all are delivered instantly with no postage cost.
If you really think about it, Mother's Day is the perfect opportunity to make up for all those times you gave mom a hard time during your youth. After all, a bouquet of daffodils now definitely excuses that time you snuck out of the house at 2 am. And a box of gourmet truffles? The perfect antidote to the antique china you broke while running around like a wild banshee.
But while flowers and chocolate are dandy, they don't last long. Treat Mom to one of these five Mother's Day gifts she'll both use and love for years to come:
The Easter practice of egg decorating has meaning behind it: the egg itself represents rebirth, something early Pagans celebrated during the spring season, and was later adopted by Christians to represent the resurrection themes of the Easter holiday. Back in the olden days, colored eggs were decorated in springy hues and given away to lovers and friends sort of the same way we do with Valentines. The egg tradition has held over as the holiday evolved, with most people using store-bought dyeing packages to color their hard boileds.
This year, stray from the usual and create unique Easter egg decorations with the help of these video tutorials.
Love to watch movies? Come to the 13th Annual High School Short Film Festival! The doors of the America Theatre will open at 7:00 p.m. on May 3rd, introducing audiences to the passionate filmmakers of this generation.
Though technically a religious holiday, Easter has become more synonymous with milk chocolate candies in the shapes of eggs and bunnies, fruity snacks in springy hues and all sorts of decadent desserts. Stock up on the goods in stores, but also think about making a few of your own delectable treats this year.
Because of Emancipation Day, a little known Washington D.C. holiday that this year is being celebrated on April 15, US taxpayers had until April 18 to file their taxes.
For some people that still won't be enough time to get all their papers in order. If you find yourself in that boat, you can file for an extension with the IRS.
It's important to remember that filing an extension doesn't extend the due date for any money you owe the IRS, and you will have to pay interest and possibly penalties on any money you send to the government after the April 18 deadline.
Read on for advice, from the IRS website, on who should and shouldn't file for an extension.
