Donovan Short

Hey, it’s Donovan Short – and for those of you I haven’t met over the last decade or so of being around here KISS-FM, I’ll probably catch you eventually.   I’ve been here in Casper since 1998, when I moved up from my original hometown of Birmingham, Alabama.  The original radio job I came for was only supposed to last a year or so, but I fell in love with Casper, and eventually got married, bought a house, and started a family here – 14 years later, I’m still fortunate to be working with the same great radio station in the same great city, and life is good. One of my favorite things about Casper is the generosity of the people that live here, and how they step up and take care of their own – I do my best to follow your example, and enjoy working with various charities in town, like KISS-FM’s annual Stuff The Van toy drive, our work with the Wyoming Food Project and more.

We Remember: ‘Heaven 9-11′ Tribute [AUDIO]

I was watching a documentary this week that focused on the children who lost parents in the 9/11 attacks, and followed them over the last ten years to see how they're doing today. It was equal parts heartbreaking and encouraging to see these kids growing up, and picking up the pieces from that awful day that changed so many lives. As we pause this weekend to remember the fallen, it's important that we remember those left behind as well. Years ago, DJ Sammy & Yanou released a powerful "Heaven" remake that featured a five year old girl who had lost her father in the attacks. Much like the documentary, this updated version follows that girl over the last ten years. It's difficult to listen to - but reminds us that for many, the loss is just as painful today as it was ten years ago.
