David Settle

A native of Fort Collins, Colorado, David Settle earned a degree in Broadcasting from the University of Wyoming in 1998.  He originally joined KOWB/KCGY in June of 1998 as a board operator.  He was named the full-time Sports Director in July of 1999.  In July of 2009, he added the title of Operations Manager to his responsibilities.  He has also worked as an intern for Wyoming Public Radio and KIIX radio in Fort Collins.  As the Sports Director, he is in charge of covering all aspects of the local sports scene.  He broadcasts five sportscasts every weekday, coordinates all sports programming for KOWB/KCGY, is a co-host of Sportsline Live three days a week, the primary host of Cowboy Talk and the “Voice of” the Laramie Plainsmen and Lady Plainsmen, as well as the Laramie Rangers.  In 2007, 2008 and 2010, he won the award for “Best Play-by-Play” from the Wyoming Association of Broadcasters.  As Operations Manager, he oversees the day-to-day functions of both KOWB and KCGY.  David is happily married.  He and his wife Sara, have two daughters, Mikaela and Paige. Cowboys Top Hawaii 59-56 in OT on Record Day

Brett Smith accounted for 640 yards of total offense, 8 touchdowns and set numerous records, but it was a Stuart Williams 36-yard field goal in overtime that gave the Wyoming Cowboys a 59-56 victory over the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors Saturday at War Memorial Stadium. The two teams combined for 1417 total yards and 115 points in an offensive shootout.

Cowboys Cruise Past Coyotes 70-53

Riley Grabau scored a career-high 20 points to lead three Cowboys in double figures, as Wyoming pulled away from South Dakota for a 70-53 win Friday night at the Arena-Auditorium in Laramie. A 17-1 run by the Pokes midway through the first half keyed them to the victory.

Wyoming Cowgirls Outlast Montana State, 72-62

Marquelle Dent scored a career-high 19 points, while Kayla Woodward and Fallon Lewis both finished with double-doubles to lead the Wyoming Cowgirls past Montana State, 72-62, Friday night at the Arena-Auditorium. Wyoming utilized a 20-2 run in the first half that put them in front for good and helped them stay unbeaten on the season.

#16 Bulldogs Bulldoze Cowboys, 48-10

The 16th-ranked Fresno State Bulldogs stayed perfect on the season, as they rolled over the Wyoming Cowboys 48-10 Saturday night at War Memorial Stadium. Derek Carr threw for 360 yards and four touchdowns, as Fresno State kept their dreams of busting the BCS alive.

Wyoming Cowboys Top Skyhawks 78-60 in Opener

Junior Riley Grabau scored a career-high 17 points to lead four Wyoming Cowboys in double figures, as UW defeated the UT-Martin Skyhawks 78-60 in the season opener for both teams Friday night at the Arena-Auditorium. Wyoming used a 15-1 run to close the first half and take control of the game.

University of Wyoming head football coach Dave Christensen announced early Tuesday that defensive coordinator Chris Tormey has been relieved of his duties on the Cowboy coaching staff effective immediately. Current defensive line coach Jamar Cain has been named the interim defensive coordinator.

Spartans Win Shootout Over Cowboys, 51-44

David Fales threw for 482 yards and five touchdowns and ran for the game-winning touchdown with 8 seconds left, as the San Jose State Spartans defeated the Wyoming Cowboys 51-44 in California Saturday night. SJSU out-scored UW 37-to-21 in the second half.

Rams Run Roughshod Over Cowboys, 52-22, in Border War

Kapri Bibbs ran for a career-high 201 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Colorado State Rams to a blow-out 52-22 win over the Wyoming Cowboys Saturday at War Memorial Stadium. It was CSU's first win in the Border War since 2008, as the Bronze Boot heads back to Fort Collins.

Brett Smith Leads Cowboys Past Lobos 38-31

Brett Smith accounted for 385 yards of total offense, ran for two touchdowns and threw for another, as the Wyoming Cowboys won their 89th Homecoming game 38-31 over the New Mexico Lobos Saturday at War Memorial Stadium. Smith's two t-d runs in the fourth quarter turned out to be the difference, as the Pokes stayed undefeated in the Mountain West.
