Because of the inclement weather expected for today the Armed Forces Day celebration has been moved from Veterans Park to the Elks Lodge at 108 E. 7th Street.

This year's Armed Forces Day principal speaker will be Major General K. Luke Reiner, The adjutant General of Wyoming. He assumed command of the Wyoming Army and Air National Guard on April 1, 2011. His address will be on America's Armed Forces, a particularly timely topic in light of recent events. This event will open with the presentation of the colors by the NCHS Jr. Army ROTC. Rev. Leonard L. Robinson, a WWII Bataan Death March Survivor, will offer the invocation plus the benediction at the end, and the National Anthem will be sung by Kenn Gilchrist, a Marine Corps Vietnam War veteran. The Pledge of Allegiance will be led by Natrona County United Veterans Council president Cecil V. Barnes. The event is free and open to the public. An old friend of ours Stan Lowe joined us to talk about the history of this celebration and todays event.
