A Casper man will avoid anymore jail time, after admitting he tried to break into an office at Casper College.

Twenty-one year old Alex Ascherin was given a one year suspended prison sentence with one year of probation, after pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges of property destruction and criminal entry.

Investigators say in February, a Casper College Professor arrived at her office in the Goodstein Library and saw someone with a screwdriver-like tool digging into the drywall near the door lock.

There was an Ipad and several other computer items in plain view of the office window.

The suspect was later identified as Ascherin by another professor, and it turned out Ascherin was a former student-worker in the library.

He has also been ordered to pay restitution to the college for damage done to the wall.
