Casper's David Street Station could see $500,000 in state funding following a recommendation from the Wyoming Business Council Board of Directors.

The board met Thursday in Casper to consider six Business Ready Community grants, as well as the the first Value-Added Agriculture Loan.

Despite a recommendation by Business Council staff against funding the grant request by the Casper-Natrona County Economic Development Joint Powers Board, directors saw fit to recommend full funding in the amount of half a million dollars.

The money would be used to construct a 4,068 square-foot building for maintenance, storage, equipment, guest services and restrooms on the east side of the David Street Station plaza, according to a news release from the Wyoming Business Council.

In a bid to improve access to the Casper Logistics Hub, the Casper/Natrona County International AIrport and the Bar Nunn Industrial Park, Bar Nunn sought $3 million to construct two on-ramps and two off-ramps at the intersection of Interstate 25 and Westwinds Road.

Although the proposal pointed out that improved access from I-25 would provide potential for commercial and industrial development that could add jobs and amenities to Bar Nunn, the board recommended against funding the project.

It was the only one of the six grants considered Thursday to get a thumbs-down from the board of directors.

The State Loan and Investment Board will have the last say on whether to fund the projects at its next meeting, set for April 6 at 8 a.m. in Cheyenne.
