A Casper man pleaded not guilty to two child pornography counts during his arraignment in federal court on Tuesday.

William David Larson, 19, entered the pleas to transportation of child pornography and possession of child pornography before U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Michael Shickich.

If convicted on both counts, Larson faces between five and 40 years imprisonment, five years to lifetime probation, and $10,000 in special assessments for the Victims of Sex Trafficking Act of 2015.

His trial is scheduled for March 27 before U.S. District Court Judge Alan Johnson in Cheyenne.

Larson remains in custody.

The case started in December when the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation received information about Larson and obtained a search warrant for his residence on Cottontail Lane, according to court records.

During the execution of the search warrant, authorities seized three cell phones, a laptop computer, and two USB drives. An analysis of one cell phone revealed a 61-second video of the molestation of a girl between three and five years old.

The government regards child pornography as a crime of violence because it involves sometimes brutal assaults on children who cannot give consent to sexual activity.
