The winter weather hadn’t quite arrived, but in the Casper Events Center Saturday morning, it was all about ice.

The grand opening ceremony was held for the Wold Family Arena, and the magnificent sheet of ice on the arena floor, added a new life to the 3-decades old facility.

John Wold, Chairman and CEO of Gastech, Inc. and former Congressman, along with his wife Jane, made the contribution that in turn, made this day possible.

He and his wife were on hand for the ceremony hosted by Mayor Paul Meyer and City Manager John Patterson. They made their entrance in a sleigh pulled by young hockey players, accompanied by Santa Claus.

Wold told K2 Radio news after the formalities were over, that he felt that by summer, Casper would have that long sought after Minor League Hockey Team.
