CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — The federal government is providing over $8 million to finish construction work along 17 Mile Road in the Wind River Reservation.

County, state and tribal funding had paid for the project but those funds ran out. The Associated Press reports that work is set to resume in late summer or early fall. It's expected to provide work to about 100 tribe members.

The road was first paved in the 1950s and doesn't have any shoulders. About 5,000 vehicles travel on every day.
