8-11 is National Safe Digging Day

It's no accident that August 11 is National Safe Digging Day, and Black Hills Energy is reminding people to call 811 before they dig.

Whether you're a homeowner setting a fence post or a contractor using a backhoe, you must "Call Before You Dig."

"Please call 811, the One Call of Wyoming, it's a toll-free number and you can have your utilities located at no charge," said Black Hills Energy spokesman Norm Long. "It's just for the safety of our customers, the general public and our employees."

Anyone who doesn't call before they dig can face substantial penalties if they strike an underground utility line.
