For the second time in a week a Wyoming Highway Patrol vehicle has been struck while parked at the side of the road.

Listen here,

Wednesday mid-morning on I-80 east of Laramie, Highway Patrol Troopers were investigating multiple vehicle slide offs and crashes when the incident occurred. Variable speed limit signs were in operation at the time due to the unsafe road conditions.

According to The Wyoming Highway Patrol report the officer was seated in his car with lights flashing when a Ford F-250 slide out of control into his car.

Fortunately, the driver of the pickup and the trooper received only minor injuries.

The report advises that there have been numerous near misses of officers of late, either at the roadside on a traffic stop or working a traffic crash. A near miss took place last Friday evening on Hwy 220 near Alcova.

In both instances the patrol cars received extensive damage.

Members of the Wyoming Highway Patrol urge drivers to be patient, courteous and pay attention especially when approaching stopped emergency vehicles.
