Casper College will hold a dedication ceremony for a training tower this (Friday) morning. Lisa Icenogle, editor and news coordinator for Casper College, welcomes everyone to the dedication at 10 am, and a mock rescue demonstration from the tower at 10:30.

Adapted tower for turbine:

"It is a portion of actually a wind turbine tower, and we use that for a couple of things; one of the things is for our renewable energy classes, folks that are going to be assembling wind turbines, fixing wind turbines, etc., know how to climb the towers, so we offer that. The other group of folks that use it are our fire science students, and also, folks that are in the first responding business."

Ms. Icenogle says Adjunct Instructor Micah Rush and other firefighters, along with some students, will conduct the demonstration on the training tower.

Rare training structure:

"And one of the interesting things about this is the fact that it is the only one in the state of Wyoming, and it is the only one of about 20 in the entire country, pretty lucky to have it here."

The tower is on the south side campus by the McMurry Career Study Center, and there will be refreshments in the Sharon Nichols Auditorium, says Icenogle.

Plenty of time to see it:

"This whole thing will go from 10 o'clock in the morning until 1 o'clock, so people will have time if they can't make it up in the morning and they can't make it up for the demonstration, they still can come up for tours of the tower and they also can come up and have refreshments."
